LODGE & BOTANICAL GARDENS

Life at Wadi Sabarah

Wadi Sabarah is a lodge, heritage sanctuary, and living landscape set between Egypt’s Red Sea coast and the Eastern Desert mountains.

THE LODGE

At Wadi Sabarah, simplicity is treated as a form of luxury. Spaces are carefully made by hand, drawing on local materials, knowledge, and craft, yet the atmosphere remains elemental and unforced. Days unfold at the pace of the valley, guided by light, nature, and instinct rather than schedules.

There are few distractions and many horizons. Life here moves outdoors, between stone, water, and sky. Wadi Sabarah is considered but untamed, intentional but open, a lodge that feels lived in rather than designed. It is shaped by hosts, makers, and wanderers, and shared by those drawn to land, culture, and quiet adventure. Guests are free to retreat or to take part, to be still or to explore. Gatherings emerge naturally. Nothing is prescribed. Everything is possible.

ROOMS & SUITES

The lodge is built by local masons using repurposed fossilised coral limestone. Each room is individually designed and grouped as Standard, Superior, Premium, or Junior Suite. With fifty-seven rooms in total, including four suites, the spaces are generous and calm, each with an ensuite bathroom, eco-conscious amenities, and a terrace or balcony oriented toward the sea. Interiors are finished with locally made pieces, from handwoven textiles to khayamiya-inspired pillowcases and soft furnishings, bringing regional craft quietly into everyday use.

Medemia Pool Deck

The Medemia pool deck sits at the edge of the lodge, opening onto uninterrupted views of the sea. An infinity pool meets the horizon, accompanied by a café bar designed for unhurried days and long pauses. Just a few steps away, the Medemia pool rooms offer ground-level terraces and a close, constant connection to the water and the view beyond.

THE SABARAH TRIBE

Wadi Sabarah is shaped by the people who live and work within it. Hosts, gardeners, curators, and guides move through the valley, carrying knowledge rooted in land, craft, and history. You might meet Dr. Irina in the botanical gardens, where she has shaped and continues to tend a living collection informed by ecology and traditional medicine. In the gallery spaces, you may come across Dr. Marek, whose work follows routes once traveled by camel caravans, tracing connections from the Sahara and the Tuareg homelands, across Egypt, and onward through the Silk Road to Iran, Central Asia, India, and Mongolia. Out in the desert, you may walk alongside Adaroub, an Ababda tribesman and desert guide, leading guests through landscapes his people have known for generations. These encounters unfold as part of the everyday rhythm of the valley.

EXTENDED FAMILY

Collaboration and creativity are at the heart of Wadi Sabarah. You’re welcome to join us for an artist residency, a retreat, or simply to share your craft and skills with the valley. Botanists, makers, and artisans contribute to the gardens, galleries, and interiors, while wellness practitioners, artists, and storytellers bring the wadi to life in unexpected ways. Every corner of Wadi Sabarah reflects a collective spirit—hands, ideas, and passions coming together to shape a place that is as much yours as it is ours.
